The Eight of Pentacles is about apprenticeship, learning new skills and expanding our horizons. But watching this apprentice examining her own work carefully you can guess that it might be easy to let perfectionism and obsession with mistakes or appearances get in the way of the learning experience.
Voltaire has often been quoted as the source of the saying "Do not let the perfect be the enemy of the good." Heed his warning.
